Artists’ Statement
Saifunisha Khatun says‘ I use local, ethnic styles, fabric as well as designs and blend the contemporary and tradition techniques and occasionally I apply myriad stitches of thread and other found objects to construct the designs and patterns on the textile surface. Over the years painting has helped me to relax my mind, find peace and connect with inner joy. I am deeply conscious about every brushstroke and linear hand stitches and abstract space division I create. This brings me close to my true self. The beauty, strength and wisdom found in nature never cease to fill me with wonder and inspiration. my work is a hardness response to both conscious and unconscious thoughts. The outcome is a joy. My goal is to inspire everyone who see my work through my eyes to look more prudently at the world around that will lead them to discover beauty in unusual places:”.
Manoj Poddar has a remarkable likeness to the Indian aboriginal art, as they transform a new tradition of figurative and narrative visual art. He says “Nature has always been my influencer in work. Taking clue from Indian Folk art, I represent fragmented modern visual style, often mixing geometric and non-geometric shapes. My palette comprises of pure unblended colours and brushwork. The visual vocabulary of colour to depicts my signature form and content. The beauty of my painting lies in its evocative portrayal of humdrum, mundane human and animal overlapping in a world of happy coexistence. My paintings reflect the rural aspects and indigenous motif picturising the beholder breathing in fresh air. my brush stroke conveys a sense of moment to the still images. My paintings bear the unparalleled depictions of natural and mythological world by using a variety of modern media. I prefer to work with natural colour that I prepare myself. That journey of preparing colour has a tells a different story. I use my own realm of imagination to create art on a professional scale. I also deal with urban subjects using acrylic colours brainstorming the viewers to analyse the visual narrative. The close connection with natural surroundings is not only my source of ideas but also turns to the myths and legends of India and overseas that showcases metaphors from the daily lives. My painterly images reflect the exploration of my creative potential of imagination and subconscious thoughts that touch the juxtaposition of the real yet surreal, a fantasy and a dream yet riddle with reality”.
